I sustained a small phenol burn to my arm roughly 2cm square. swabbed with relevant solvent and rinsed with water. I am aware phenol is very toxic and wondered if anyone had any experience with phenol exposure?

with phenols it depends if you're part of the population that's allergic to them. if you're not you'll be fine, but if it gets red and looks ucky go and get it looked at. regardless wash it every day and you might get away with not having a scar.

ouch, phenol is pretty caustic, i hope you didnt rinse with any solvent other than ethanol, it could have made it worse.

you can treat it same as any other burn, that is: if you feel unpleasant burning pain- cool with ice or ice-cold water or ethanol dressing. cover by light dressing if it feels sensitive, leave open if not. Later on, rub grease if the spot feels itchy and dry.

over my lifetime i have burned my fingers slightly several times, but that was ok, what i hate is the smell of it and i also suppose that the inhalation is what makes phenol a hazardous thing. it can get you right into the lungs - far easier than through the skin. i even remember sobebody distilling phenol in the lab, and THAT was gross...

pee on it or have someone pee on it. That'll help. You are an idiot.
