I am aware of the Special Olympics and the Paralympics. I was referring to the Olympics Games.

Special Olympics are for the developmentally disabled, the physically differentabled have the para-olympics which are held in most of the same venues as the Olympics. Prothetic devices are traditionally not welcomed in the traditional Olympics.

I suppose it would depend on the event. In most cases I don't believe such an athlete would have an advantage over an other athlete and frankly, their biggest challenge would be just in qualifying against their "able-bodied" opponents.
