I don't believe that a man or a woman can be in love with more than one partner at a time. When you are in love you give everything to the person that you love, body and mind. There is no difference between the sexes in this respect.
Let me tell you a secret though. Women like to look at sexy men on the street and flirt with them just as much as men do. When you commit yourself to a partner, your sexuality does not die whether you are male or female. Women are however, socialised to be more subtle than men when they eye up 'sexy men on the street' but trust me, we all look.
The point is that a person in love does not engage in sexual activity with anyone but the one person they are in love with. This is a way of bonding the two lovers together and allows the to demonstrate their commitment to each other. In order for this to work both the man and the woman must be faithul in the relationship.
May I express my support and respect for Leaplings' opinion.

No man or woman can love more than one of the opposite sex in a civilized society,it is just multiple sex only.In some other religions especially Moslem,a man simultaneously can have up 4 wives. But woman can have only one at a time.In ancient social systems the entire brothers of the family had only one wife.Droupathi (in Mahabharatha epic )had five husbands.Among tribals of Africa,Indonesia and many countries, more than one husband for a woman is even now allowed. These are sharing of love for them ,while it is sharing of bed as far as we are considered.Kings(Shakes)of Arabian countries even now have many women as legal wives.Perhaps capacity to make love decides the number wives possible. If sharing of bed is possible, sharing of love also may be possible. In a recent interview with one Amir(Muslim king) all wives were found happy!!Perhaps one man one woman concept was created by Christian Missionaries.

Well, I love evrybody so I think that both men and women can love more than one person at the same time. Not necessarily in the same way. Lets not confuse love with lust, which, if we are honest, is what gets people together in the first place. Humans are not really made to be monogamous.

This is a highly misogynistic question and any woman (or man for that matter) who agrees with this is playing into the roles set by the male oriented society we live in.
Women are just as capable of lusting after many people as men are, our sex drives are just as high, our need for intimacy and sex just as strong, our tendencies to have our heads turned by a pretty face just as ripe as any man.
By pandering to the stereotype that women are caring, nurturing and just want one man to look after we are giving men carte blanche to continue to act how they want and using their y chromosome as an excuse. If we choose to love one man (or woman) it is choice possibly because most women do empathise more readily than most men but these generalisations help no-one.

Silly question. Of course 2 women can love the same man, but they'll be COMPETING for him, likely quite ruthlessly. At some times, in some cultures, wealthy men had many wives, but don't for a second think the women were happy with it or weren't competing with each other for supremecy for themselves and their own children. Book of Genesis, Jacob's mother schemed to get Abraham's blessing for Jacob at Esau's expense. Roman Empire, Augustus' wife Livia killed off everyone who stood between her son Tiberius and the crown, most of them kin, including her own husband. The chinese ideogram for "trouble" is a house with 2 women in it.

I love my man very much, but that dont mean I dont enjoy a flirt with other men, Yes I have strayed twice and YES I enjoyed it. Some women can seperate love and sex as they are two different things.

I think both men and women have the capacity to love more than one partner at a time. The difference is women are more in tune with society and therefore have stronger morals!

It's true, women sometimes like two guys and then lose interest in the first one. I'm not sure about guys though.

No offence. It's just that men like to flaunt around their sexual prowess as opposed to women who want to keep it private and confined to one person. It's human behavior known as "the rooster syndrome".
