Literally and figuratively...

A confrontation between your spouse and your family could potentially be destructiveto the spousal relationship.

I would personally choose my wife, almost without question. It is part of my wedding vow to forsake her to no one...

I for one do not believe that saying, and never have! You choose your partner husband/wife, you cannot and do not choose your family. Most people can look back at the way they were raised, and see that it was not all peaches and cream...Most families like to pretend it was. You will notice in your blood family, that you may/may not be accepted, two people are not the same...no matter who you are. With a partner/spouse there is a different kind of Love... one that only you two can make or have, Blood has a very bad habit of interferring, while water most of the time is just seeking to be loved and accepted.

Well it really depends , if person is abusive ? I mean physically , or emotionally, in that case family is above the one abusing, but if happy relationship , then husband and wife should be best friends and come before anything and everyone else but God

But like many people answering, I would choose my boyfriend everytime. There is a big gap between me and my family yet I still live with them. They just want me to leave so that they can move back to Canada with my sister. It's a big problem that has been going on for years. Everyone can see it except for them.

I can actually see me falling out with my family for a long time when I move in with my boyfriend. Basically because they'll move back to Canada and when I have children, they won't come back to see them.

Blood has nothing to do with it. It's called disrespect. No one should HAVE to choose. But if that is what it comes down to?? Of course you stay with your husband/wife, Unless you really don't want to be with them. Or, as it sounds here, He doesn't care enough about you.

No. Blood is thicker than water only if the 'water' is someone you have not formed a strong bond with. But I feel that my bond with my spouse is as deep or deeper than the bonds I have with my family, so I would not choose them over him.

Yes especially when it comes to family if you don't honorthe vows set before God, the person who married you and each other family could come between it. You need to sit and talk and let it be known this is creating feelings in you and how you feel! Some people value family at what ever cost to them!

Well I must say that I would choose my hubby over my family but would not like to do it. Its hard this question in a way but a good one. Makes people think which is good. Just do what you think is good for you, no matter what other people say.

It would be tough decision. I would help my family in all circumstances, but if they go against my husband and I have to choose... I think I would choose my husband.
