They passed a law here in Texas saying that you could be arrested for being intoxicated in a bar. I actually know someone who was given a charge of public intox because he became inebriated in a bar. Texas lawmakers are looking this one over though and the law has been temporarily set aside. One official stated that the reason for this law being passed is that people do stupid things when they become intoxicated. Okay, well people do stupid things when they are sober too. It makes me wonder if they are going to try to pass a law against stupidity and end up giving us a new Texas governing council.

In the town of Chenango , New York , there is an old law still active on the books that married or not , if you have sex with your partner while a child is in the house asleep or not you are placed under arrest and the child is taken from you. For indecent and immoral actions. Of course you don't want to piss a cop off because some would actually charge you for it.

Also they have another one there that you can not have any lawn ornaments / holiday decorations outside or on your lawn or you can do 6 months in jail.

"Terra Nullius"--Australian law, that states that Australia was "empty land" when "discovered ' by Captain Cook. All denial of land rights to Aboriginal people has been based on this one legal Unicorn, because by the time it was challenged, it was officially"Common Law"--ie. around so long, it's assumed to be gospel, or at least inviolable, for sheer longevity alone.
The law was made with the rationale that , interpreting the Bible as saying that the earth was given to people to till and "work"--can't remember the book/passage, but most will get the gist/reference---and the Aboriginal ppl did not appear to be doing that, then they weren't using the land in a way pleasing or appropriate to God,and to all ("proper") intents and purposes the land was "empty." (!) and therefore no treaty or agreement need be made with the original occupants.

In my hometown, one still needs a license to have sex. A "marriage" license. If you don't have one, and the town cop has a grudge against you, and catches you in the act...it's like a $300 fine.

One person's ridiculous is another person's godsend. Barring gay people from adopting kids is ridiculous to gay people who want to adopt.
Barring gay people from adopting kids is a godsend for people who are against it.
