It burns a little bit when I pee....I am due on really soon (like this weekend) and have slightly yellow discharge...(I always get discharge when I'm due on) Do you think its either thrush or cystitis?? Hardly been drinking any water so if it is cystitis...haven't been helping it! Haven't 'douched' for a week or so as thought this might've started it off..cant be an STD as haven't had sex recently and have been in a serious stable relationship for two years (we are Christians although I have had sex before.)

Pls help!

It sounds a lot like thrush. Vaginal thrush is NOT a sexually transmitted disease - it is a condition which results from an imbalance of bacteria and yeasts which naturally live in the vagina.

This imbalance can allow one type of yeast, Candida albicans, to breed faster than usual and this can cause thrush.

The imbalance which can lead to thrush can be caused by many different things - some entirely natural like the hormonal changes experienced during menstruation, in pregnancy or at the menopause.

Being a thrush sufferer does not mean you are 'dirty' - in fact being over zealous with vaginal douches is one of the things which can help upset the natural balance in the vagina and start an attack of thrush.

If this is your first bout of thrush, you should visit your doctor so that he/she can confirm that this is the problem and not a different infection.

In some cases your doctor may take some samples from the vagina to check for infections, including thrush.

Sounds like cystitis, I'd recommend drinking LOTS of water, some cranberry juice as well might help, and if it doesn't help in a couple of days you can buy things over the counter in the pharmacy to help, you don't need to go to the doctor.

Sounds like a touch of cystitis - drink plenty of cranberry juice - that should help. And I hate to say it, but by douching, you're actually destroying the natural flora inside your vagina, which might leave you open to infection. It's best to leave your insides alone and just make sure the outside is spotless. If you're concerned, go and see your GP.

you could have a kidney infection. try cranberry juice and stop douching that can cause bacterial infections like vaginosis which it sounds like you have. you do not need to douche as the vagina is 'self-cleaning' and you will make the problem worse. I really think you should get your water infection seen by doctor as an anti-biotic should solve both problems. Have a chat with the nurse at your medical centre about feminin hygiene as you are probably over-doing it.

acually after a recnt study i heard.. douching is a bad thing for you, when you do that it acually takes any infection and pushes it back up your system which can cause more problems. another thing i've learned is get toilet paper that doesn't have perfume in it. the perfumes in them can cause infections also. try these things and if you don't see a improvment in about 2 weeks, consult your obgyn. good luck :)
