Both are college graduates, neither of them is in graduate school, neither of them is working and they're living off of taxpayer money. Shouldn't they be in the service?
Am I the only one who feels there's something wrong with this picture?

I'm not saying they're on welfare, but if they're supported by their father and their father's salary comes from taxpayer money, then by extension, they're supported by the people. Sets a poor example. Even the British royals do a tour in the service.

Agree, they do it because they can. I'm thinking about rising tuition rates and loan rates for college students today. It's harder and harder for young people to go to college and they're settled with debt for many years and cannot afford to "take a few years off". I guess power has its privileges...

No, I don't have a personal issue with the daughters, but I do have an issue with moochers.

As for me, no, my father didn't pay for me. I paid my own way through college and graduate school.

How do you know they are living off taxpayer dollars? The Bush family has some of their own money and a whole lot more then the amount they get from the government.

Why should they be in the service? Last time I checked it was a volunteer military.

The only thing wrong with this picture is simpletons asking ignorant questions in a fading hope to score some political point.

I'm no Bush fan but saying his daughters are living off tax payer money because their father is supporting them (if that is even true) is a little far fetched. Their father has a job, he gets paid for that job. It just so happens that his salary is paid by the government which is supported, in part, by tax payer money. He doesn't get his money for free, he works for it.

They're not welfare babies and their father isn't on the dole.

Get your facts straight before you make stupid statements like this.

Their dad is a government employee...that's why. Just like a cop's kid, or a mayor's kid, or a librarian's kid, or a governor's kid, or a firman's kid. The parent is paid with taxpayer dollars, the parent has kids, therefore the kids are being raised with taxpayer dollars.

Are you suggesting our municipal and government employees NOT be allowed to have kids?? That would be pretty strange....

Re 'shouldn't they be in the service?'...I don't know. We have a volunteer military in the US. Are you suggesting we go to a draft? Or perhaps a draft for any child of a government employee??? That too would be pretty strange...

I thought Jenna was a teacher. I haven't heard anything about what they're doing, other than somewhere I heard that Jenna was teaching somewhere in DC. I wouldn't say they SHOULD be in the service since it's voluntary, but maybe Bush should encourage them to join since he thinks that this war is so noble.

I believe one of them volunteers and the other is preparing to enter graduate school in the fall. The "taxpayer money" you refer to is their father's salary. Didn't/doesn't your father support you?

Could they work with you with the secret service looking over your shoulder? They probably can't work due to security issues. Would you like some one to attack bomb your work place to get a shot at the presidents daughters?

Now, if they are living off of their father, what's it to you? He earned that money. It's his money. He can do with it as he pleases. It's truly not your business. If you worked your tail off to get where you are, bully for you, but to begrudge others for being privileged just makes you seem petty and small. Be proud of what you have accomplished and let others deal with their own fate.

Who said they were living off the taxpayers? They probably just like to keep their life private so it seems like they're not doing anything.

How do you know what they're doing? What about that Amy Carter or Chelsey Clinton. They're still getting secret service protection. Why aren't people up in arms about that?

People like Geraldo Rivera would give away their position and put the entire unit at risk. To many Liberals that would whine about everything would screw it up too.
