Whichever one appeals to your passions in life. Your major is what you plan on pursuing as a career for the rest of your life. What major most appeals to you? That's the one that will be best for you.

Economics. It is a "Liberal Art" so you will get the critical thinking skills you develop in courses like Political Science, Psychology, and Philosophy. But it's also a highly "bankable" degree which pulls in the kind of salaries that Finance and Accounting majors make. Also, both Law and MBA programs love Econ majors.

I'd say at least a Masters' degree in math if you decide to do something with cryptography.

If you end up working a cryptography job depending on how good you are, you could make 100-150k a year easy. If you end up teaching though .. maybe 26k a year..

The most important thing however, is to choose something because you enjoy the subject. Not because of how much the pay is.

That's a very vague question. What do you want to do in life? I'd say philosophy, physics, math, biology, chemistry, history, and religion majors tend to be the smartest people out there. Being smart, though, doesn't mean you'll get a job, or anything for that matter.

The "best" is something you're going to be interested enough to study for four or five years.

Choose something you're passionate about.
