I agree with Russia on this one (that's a first!). Israel's measures on this matter are disproportionate; I think this is just giving them an excuse to unleash such attacks. I haven't seen a picture of the two that Hezbollah kidnapped, but have you seen the Israeli "soldier" that the Palestinians captured and is causing all that fuss!? He looks like he should put some lead in his boots so he doesn't fall over while holding a gun! I've seen tougher looking guys in the Jr. ROTC LOL!

No, by international law, they may only inflict reasonable agressive force onto a nation in retaliation for an attack. For instance, it would be legal by IL (international law) for the country to attack involved parties but not to a greater extent of the damage they incurred. Assasinating a leader of an orginazation that orderd a kidnapping or murder would be acceptable. However Israel is aware the matter and is concluding that the entire governemnt is the perpetrator, that does not seem to hold much water with the General Assembly, so they are furthering thier percuit of the legitamacy of a case for legal war declaration. Regardless with thier close alignment with the US they will be afforded an opportunity to continue due to a US veto.

No. Israel has the right to retaliate to aggressive bombs that Hezbollah, a guerrilla group, attacked Israel with, unprovoked to stir up attention away from Iran.
Tell me if someone kidnapped your mother, threw bombs on your neighborhood simply because you are there living your life you would not retaliate?
I mean just because some cartoonist depicted Muhammad as a terrorist - no one was physically hurt - the Muslims went on a rampage killed and destroyed property and you say Israel should do nothing - oh what a hypocrite I smell here

Some version of this question comes up several times a day. So I made a copy of this so I won't have to retype it several times a day.
"Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defense if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. Measures taken by Members in the exercise of this right of self-defense shall be immediately reported to the Security Council and shall not in any way affect the authority and responsibility of the Security Council under the present Charter to take at any time such action as it deems necessary in order to maintain or restore international peace and security."

Look, they have every right to defend their country but What they are doing is not right.....We see the big picture where there is a problem and a solution (their solution). The thing is they have killed civilians, and are going to kill many more. i know this is war but they have to at least try and not be such brutes about it. Israel has a bad habit of losing their temper and not thinking about the people who live and die because of them. The groups of people who are messing with them know that they will lose it and they are playing right into their hands. I cannot believe Israel does not see this.
My thoughts go out to all the people who are in the middle of this and I hope this insanity stops soon.

Yes. Only because Hezbollah is sanctioned by the standing government. No different then Serbia and it's militia fighters that carried out the brutality during that crisis. Now if Israel attacked Iran over it that would be different.... even though they are probably really behind it.

No right at all, if some nutters kidnapped an American in China, would the Americans have the right to start a war, and destroy the planet?
This is what the Israeli's have been up to, ever since 1955:-
