[DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT WANT TO ACTUALLY DO THIS TO ANYONE!]

Okay, I had to preface my answer because I don't want anyone thinking I really want to do this or that I'm some whack job. lol

I once read a book about serial killers and the advent and development of FBI profiling. It was intriguing, to say the least. The whole point of profiling is to find and understand the modus operandi and the signature of each crime scene, thereby zeroing in on the perpetrator.

While reading the book, I kept thinking, "I wonder if I could devise a way to kill and not get caught." It wasn't the aspect of taking someone's life that enthralled me...I would never, could never do that. It was the challenge of outsmarting some of the most brilliant minds in our society. Vanity, pure and simple. Am I as smart or smarter than the FBI profilers?

The answer is no. lol I'd get caught for sure! I couldn't think of any way I could do something like that and not mess up somehow. (I won't elaborate on the specifics of what I thought; I don't want to give anyone ideas, if they're so inclined toward these types of actions.) They say that murderers, on average, leave behind something on the order of 25 different clues (or make that many mistakes) that allow the investigators to pinpoint their guy. With the technological advances in forensics (especially DNA) these days, it would be extremely difficult to get away with murder.

I like your question, btw. I wonder how many truthful answers you'll actually get. People like to keep their darkest thoughts secret, even in an anonymous environement. It feels like a confessional in here.
