Yes France definately won the battle of coverage...It was always going to be that way when you have the great Zidane playing in his last World Cup final & before his retirement along with his older compatriots who won the World Cup with him in 98.

The Zidane head butt just shocked the world as nobody expected that ending & made France even more talked about. I think most neutral fans would say that they never expected Italy to get into the final as they didn't really give us and good entertainment/performances like say Germany & Argentina & were lucky with that penalty in the Austraila game. They only really put in a performance in the 2nd half and in extra time against Germany.

On the otherhand, France however average they seemed in the group stages, progressively got better & better in the latter rounds putting in some convincing & excellent performances against Spain, Brazil & Portugal. Zidane in particular in that Brazil game was awesome - it was obvious then that this team could roll back the years, get into the final & actually win it.

France were the better team on the night & deserved to win it, but it wasn't to be...so France & Zidane have left a great legacy for the next generation in the next World Cup.

There was too much happening in Italy with the betting scandal to really enjoy the World Cup win.

Yes but would you prefer more television coverage or a fourth world cup?
The French can only dream.
