what we see of the moon is reflected light, so it can in fact be any color. The actual surface of the moon is reportadly a brownish grey, much like very dry mud. Remember most images taken from there are in black and white, so though is looks all grey there is in fact more color than that.
The moon has been known to appear white, yellow, orange, red and even blue (mostly over the ocean).
A figurative blue moon is a moon that is full twice in one month

From Earth, it appears white because it's reflecting light from the sun. In actuality, it's more of a grey.

white it looks yellow and even red/orange in the summer just like when the sun sets it changes color.
