According to our constitution, we are the "United States", not the "United States of America". Now, yes, the Declaration of Independence does use the phrase "thirteen united States of America", but it was describing the 13 States that were united in telling England to leave them alone. It may have something to do with the fact that until we ratified a constitution (i.e. a foundation of laws) we weren't really a country. I am sure some poli-sci major could answer better than me.

Look at the preamble of the Constitution of the United States. Note that there in no America.

"We the people of the United States, in order ....."

So, since the office of the president is a constitutional office, the official name doesn't include "America".

Also, the acronym that is often used is "POTUS".

Or as Tevya ("Fiddler on the Roof") says "I don't know, it's tradition."

This has to do with tradition ... dating all the way back to the very first "State of the Union" address ... tradition ... nothing more. By the way, I think he should be introduced as "The President of the Most Powerful Force on Earth"! That's just my opinion though.

Because thay are addressing fellow Americans.I think they include America if the President is addressing people from other countries too.The State of the Union is a domestic event for americans.

You have a south ameria, central America and a north america. There are other presidents in the South American nations and central american nations. President of Mexico for instance. In the U.S. we know what they mean. To other countries, there may be some confusion.
