lets see. This is a hypothetical scenario where the entire world has only two nations to identify with. A nation is not identical to a country, by the way.

Given ordinary circumstances, I'd say wherever I am born, and have family and friends at, is where I'd prefer to live at. No nation is better than any other in this respect. My two major reasons will be: Family, and Shared cultural beliefs.

If it is a matter of preference, as your question hints, then the people of the world would try to decide by what identifying with the nation mean for them. Then two prime reasons will be: Citizenship benefits and security of future generations.

I understand your sentiment, but fighting bigotry with bigotry is not a good idea.

Nonetheless, my vote would go to India. I have several Pakistani friends, but I admire India's plurality - there are very significant exceptions, of course, but by and large it's a country that's trying to modernise itself and live with its different linguistic, ethnic, cultureal and religious groups in peace. It's got a long way to go, but at least it's making an effort.

No disrespect to Pakistan. They're trying too.

Pakistan. One because I'm a Muslim and two because my family is from there. But don't get me wrong, I would still love India and never want war. Only peace and love!
