A lot of them get resurrected into a new type of fame (i.e. that "Peter Brady" stuff getting so much publicity these days!). Some of them never went away to begin with (i.e. The Rolling Stones). Some of them died (i.e. two Beatles). Some simply faded away into obscurity (i.e. Bobby Sherman, David Cassidy, etc.); retired from show biz altogether.
The public can be fickle. Today's "hot stars" may well be tomorrow's has-beens. Fame can be fleeting. Most celebrities do not have longevity with their "fans" - and some of them have a hard time coping once the party's over.

Which ones? They got old, people stopped caring...the same bleak thing that happens to most people in the limelight.

they got old, they got crazy, they got irrelevant, they got pushed six feet below the ground...but some did manage to re-invent themselves and is still kinda famous today e.g Tom Jones

My husband hates it when he sees someone in a guest or minor role on tv and recognizes them but doesn't know their name -he'll ask me who they are and I usually say, "they used to do a lot of stuff in the '70's (or '80's)."
It drives him crazy! ;)

I observed Hyde in a pair low budget self sustaining movies from 06 - '10. And Fez remains around, only doing random sheet. Eric remains appearing as properly, only no longer doing so good. Idk approximately Donna.
