Sorry, hon, I side with your mother on this one. There is too much going on there right now and Americans in particular are targets. Ask yourself if this trip is worth losing your life over...I think not.

Wait until things have settled down over there and then that will be the time to go.

Give her reasons for going while showing her that you are mature and can be trusted. Sometimes parents just won't listen, and keep in mind that your mom might believe that it's not safe enough even if she trusts you. Money is also a valid issue- it was the deciding factor in my parents letting me leave the country for Israel. And yes, it would be good if you were going with a good, safe group of people and are of age. Even if it doesn't work out, don't give up on trying to visit those countries in a couple years. I wish you the best of luck!

No doubt the region is tense and open war is going on but you are not going to the countries which are under fire. You need to convince her that this is a unique chance which you must avail, otherwise you would not get such a chance in your life. You should also assure her that if there was any risk, you would return. You should also request your school/college to speak to your mom and assure her that the administration was responsible enough to ensure the safety of the students.

I don't think this is a great idea at this point in time. Israel is bombing Lebanon and Syria may be next. There is alot of political upheaval in this part of the world at this time. Your life could be in jeopardy. I would just wait until the bombings are done.

Obviously you are under 17?

Because no one age 18 or 21 and above will need mummys consent.

At this moment its rediculous to go. You should stick to Jordan only but in my opinion its not worth it considering the happenings there.

Try Tunisia

Nancy Pelosi and Syria have an same objectives in ideas in the area. that's completely organic that she needs to visit Syria and unite in purpose, meaning, between different issues, officiating American defeat, diminishing American impact, and charting a diverse direction than any direction a Republican ought to set.

You should wait until the dust settles( as you know there is a minor war between Israel and Lebanon)

After it is all peaceful, you can have her ask a Q about the region here on yahoo answers

I was in the middle east and it is beautiful...but right now not so much...too much tension and war. Not safe, not a good idea. You should wait until there is peace, you'll have a better time and be more warmly received!

scream, threw a fit, slam the door and stomp your feet. That should show them stodgy old parents that you are mature, passionate and ready to explore. BTW, if you want to explore a third world country, try Guatemala- still has gorrillas and guys with machine guns every where- bad water, and lots of poverty- but less bombs. Might be safer.
