You know, those little lights that say "security" next to them? They irritate the hell out of me. What useful thing do they do? Why can't a security system work without an annoying blinking light?

They are supposed to scare away would be theives.
Rather than having someone smash your window and then you have to pay the deductible, the blinking light tells them that you have a security system and will prevent them from even touching your car.
This is all theoretical, as some theives don't care and do a smash and grab anyway.

the lights is only a sign that the car alarm still works, otherwise no one can tell if the car will roar (or make noisy sound) when someone steal your car.
then why the lights are blinking ?
it's more about saving the life of the lights.
The blinking lights have longer life than regular lights.
actually, if you got annoyed, you could cover the lights with something like thick paper, so the red lights didn't get to your eyes.

The purpose of the red light is to make theft easier. It lets a thief know that it will require an extra minute or so to disable the security system prior to stealing the vehicle anyway. Very considerate.

That's short for, 'Department of Homeland Security'! It allows the government an opportunity to ride along with the citizens and make sure that they are safe in their everyday activities! Whatever they may be! -it's possible!

ya i agree,, there supposed to drive burgalers away,, but all it does is attract em realy,,,,sayin Hey!! i have somethin worth jacking here helloooo!!! lol ya know...its not hard to get past a car alarm,,not hard at all. even the "good ones" lol .. I have an alarm and i did not install the blinking light, i agree and think there lame..alot of hic's around where i live think there cool cuz of a blinky light in there ride.

a security light will shut off after entering if not it is wired wrong all other red lights are becuse people forgot how to read guages

THE LIGHT IS A VISUAL INDICATOR INFORMING THAT WHO EVER IS IN THE CARS VICINITY, " THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPED WITH AN ANTI THEFT DEVICE" AND BESIDES YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL THAT YOU HAVE THE GIFT OF SIGHT.
