I'd say Serbia & Montenegro, they have 0 points from 3 games and a goal difference of -8. Next to last is Costa Rica with 0 points and a gd of -6.

It is definately NOT Trinidad & Tobago. They have 1 point because they drew with Sweden and there are at least 3 teams with 0 points.

I agree with sixboltmains, but this is a subjective answer and probably not what the questioner was expecting. But... continuing in this vein for a moment... I'm pretty sure it was Churchill who said, "The Italians make war as if it were a football game and play football as if it were a war." Likewise the Portuguese and Argentinians.

In the USA or in the UK, the Italian player would be ostracized, penalised, fined, and perhaps even barred from the game for making racist comments. In Italy, he is a hero for helping them win! If Fifa has any conviction, they will slap a huge penalty on Materazzi - or whatever his name is - perhaps even bar him from Fifa events for a year or 2. Not likely, though.

What they need to sort out football is 2 more referees, a bigger goal, instant replays to differentiate diving from penalties, penalties for diving, and cameras at both goals, to ensure that if a ball crosses the line, it is counted as a score, even if the goalie subsequently blocks it back.

Give me a contract for a couple of million a year! I'll sort it out!

If you mean teams that actually qualified for the tournament, Costa Rica, Serbia and Montenegro, and Togo all finished with zero points, the only teams to do so. Of those, it can be said that, based on FIFA Tiebreakers, the first of which is goal differential, then Serbia and Montenegro would be last, with a -8 goal differential. adam - What are you talking about? T&T shut out Sweden, only lost to England 2-0, and almost advanced to the next round. Plus Shaka Hislop was incredible! No way that T&T was the worst team.
The worst was officialy S&M since they got 0 points and -8 goal differential. Second worst was Costa Rica with 0 points and -6 goal differential, and third worst was Togo with 0 points and -5 goal differential.

out of all teams in world rankings japan was 18th at beginning of WC and now are ranked 49th, and that's a big drop off of -31, and Trinidad & tobago droped from 47th place in world to 64th in world ranking and thats a drop of -17. so i would have to say Japan finished last cause the got hurt the most in this wc 2006. and serbia & montenegro acctualy started the wc ranked 44th and now they are ranked 38th in the world so the moved up 8 spots..
