My o/s is xp pro. I've connected the external drive using firewire and usb ports.

Do you have all the correct drivers and software loaded so the drive will be mounted?

there might be a tiny power switch on the harddrive. try turning it on. install drivers if the hard drive came with a driver cd. can u hear the drive spin?

Hello, I am technical stuff in TURKEY.
You must format your hdd for FAT32.
enter the BIOS, open USB ports.
Plug in hdd.
finish.
