Well Matt G. (creater of The Simpsons) wanted to have like a new style of the body for the characters thats why everybody has four finger.

Actually, its a funny thing. Most cartoons only have 4 finger on each hand. The reason is, when a hand with 5 fingers does not look right. Check out Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Popeye, and you'll see all of them with 4 finger hands.

most cartoon characters only have 4 fingers because it saves time. though to some people its annoying to animate rs its a big help. If u think about the facts the average cartoon uses over 200 different sets of drawings. so think of how you might feel after drawing a whole cartoon and messing up on a couple of pictures and having to do them over cause on little finger is missing.

All of them have. There was an episode when Lisa was reading a science magazin, and an article stated due to evolution, in the future people will have 5 fingers... LOL

Their education wasn't very good, so they could only count to 8.
No reason to have more than 8, if you can't count the extra 2 fingers.

easy to draw four fingers than five
and easy to make sure all the fingers is likely stable
