Yeah, funny way of getting brownie points. Why do adults give themselves permission to kiss and hug children for publicity? or invade babies buggies and grab them because they are sweet. Maybe it's the done thing there, a cultural habit that survives, but if he would have done it outside of Russia I'm sure we would have heard more about it.

That's not uncommon in their culture. Like Italian men, relatives or old friends, kissing each other on the mouth when they meet.

It's a cultural thing.
