My stepdaughters came to see my husband and myself for what was to be a couple of months. Two weeks into the visit the mother calls us telling us that she had no place for the children to live and she wanted to know if we could let the girls live with us. We agreed. My husband has been out of work because of surgery and we have been living off of my pay. When his short term insurance kicked in the x wife got over 1200$ of his check and is currantly getting support every week. We are enrolling the children in school , buying them clothes, food and everything else they may need. We really need the money that is going to the x. We have talked with social services where we live and they can do nothing about it and we are struggling pretty bad. We don't know what to do the x isn't comming off any of the money we sent to her and we need help. If someone out there can offer us some advice please. Maybe someone we can contact or what we can do to lower the support amount. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Only the court can solve this one. Keep very good records of how much spent when and for how long when you go to court, you may be able to collect back support. Good Luck.

Have you tried legal aid? Even if she already received that money, if you can prove that the girls have been living with you, she'll most likely have to pay it back.
You should ask for a change of possession order which would also change the child support order.

Good luck!!!
