First, Social Security will come to your aid one day--when you are retired or disabled. You will get your benefits in proportion to what you paid in. Social Security is not a charity program. People who haven't paid in to Social Security don't receive Social Security.

Welfare is another matter. But that comes from other tax monies. Not out of your check.

Last, the government is not taking away your right to bear arms. You can purchase and own firearms if you are legally able to obtain a license for them. You can't get any firearm--like, Uzis are illegal for good reasons. But as for hunting rifles, shotguns, and certain pistols, there is no law against you buying and owning one, unless you are a convicted felon--in which case you have abused your rights and therefore have rightly lost them.

I suggest that you get a better education. You are blaming "the U.S. government" for things that you're not even informed about. Moreover, the government is not set up to be a joke. It is actually a pretty ingenious system. Whether or not the elected officials botch the system is another story--but that's usually because misinformed jackasses vote them in or else apathetic morons don't vote to begin with.

I think that much of the U.S. populace is a joke because they gripe and have no idea what the facts are or what their responsibility as a citizen is.

I don't think it matters what anyone here thinks about the U.S. government because as soon as "Brian/Bridget" shows up and answers your question "he-she" will be awarded best answer. With that being said I will still take the time to answer your question:

The government has not taken away your right to bear arms...yet. You can still own and use your firearms as long as you are not a convicted felon. The taxes you pay are not only going towards welfare (very little actually does), they go towards the education you got (or didn't get), care for your elderly parents and/or grandparents, the war in Iraq (the biggest percentage of your taxes go there), etc., etc., etc.

If you don't like how your income is being taxed and subsequently administered then write your representatives and senators. Become a conscientious objector, stop paying taxes and take your chance with that. It would be considered taking action in what you believe in instead of whining while sitting on one's lazy behind using the Internet (that we're all taxed on and pay for).

Its the lazy morons that sit around complaining about things instead of doing something that are the problem. We pay into social security so we should get something back right? If you don't pay welfare to people, those people will cost society more by taking things they need. Which would you prefer, a bunch of crazy needy people banging down your door? Mad max was a good movie but not to live in. We in America are the government. If you don't think so then your part of the problem. Don't sit around at home while others go out and vote and work for what they believe in, then turn around and complain that your not getting what you want.

Check the facts. Look at how the government spends money. Social security recipients are mostly retirees. Do you think all people should work, even the elderly? I don't believe the government will ever outlaw shortsleeve shirts. Bare arms? Owning firearms is guaranteed by the Constitution.

Basically a welfare system is aimed at taking care of people in financial ruins, and sometimes these people have children, and I don't know that children should be asked to starve to death because their parents can't afford a place to live, or food.

Basically Social Security takes care of the elderly, you know, the people that built basically everything around us that we use and enjoy. You know, like the schools we went to were built with their tax money....the government buildings and roads and stuff that were here before you got a job?

The Government has programs to help out the impoverished and the elderly because well, we're human beings, and only animals leave the weak to fend for themselves and probably die.

Wow, does your question makes sense? Isn't the US governent America? Or a part of AMerica? That's like saying what does the body think of the brain? The body is nothing without the brain. You think because the body and the brain are separate that the brain has nothing to do with working out. Well it does. You need a brain and a heart to work out. So you need a government and an army for america to work out. You work with the brain and heart you've got.

well, the right to have a firearm, should be regulated.

almost 80% of handguns bought for "home protection" are used in suicide attempts, or murder of family members, or co-workers.

having a rifle, or any long gun, should be allowed for hunting, period.

but, as for the gov't being a joke...

The Government, as we know it "George W. Bush, condoleeza, Colin Powell, etc..." they are nothing more than celebrity faces. they have as much say in political matters are the Queen of England.

The actual decisions are made by military leaders, key players of intelligence offices, and ESPECIALLY big businesses.

I feel your pain in this, but remember one thing. We live in the best country of all time as far as I'm concerned. People around the world would die to live like we do, but I think a lot of Americans take this for granted. A lot of things really piss me off, but in the long run things could be a lot worse. This Thanksgiving, be thankful for all the freedoms that we do have, regardless of this country's shortcomings.

The government sucks. It bugs me too because they are the only organization that gets paid by taxpayers but they think they are so high and mighty and yet we are supporting them. What would they do without us but they treat the common citizen like crap. I think we should all stop paying our taxes that will really get them going.

Regarding firearms, criminals will always find a way to have guns. They don't obey the law. After all, they're criminals. If we are unarmed, only the criminals will have guns and we will be defenseless. The US government really is a joke, but no one is laughing.....)(
