If you love her, just tell her.
Tying rakhi has not made her your real sister. It is probably a sign that she really appreciates you. If she is not a close relative to whom, marriage is forbidden, then nothign stops you from wanting to marry her.
The rakhi has no value since you never saw it as tying between the two of you a sister-brother relationship.
Dont waste your time letting custom put you down, tell her you love her. if she accepts, then u can live your love, otherwise, you will always have her as a sister.

I too have same problem. when we were in college, i tied my friend Rakhi, then we both became bestest friends, finished college, started working in Bangalore and we are good buddies till today. Now we have reached the age to get marry and a thought came why cant we become life partners as best friends are best life partners. But his whole family knows we are very good friends and i have tied him Rakhi. Now he is hesitating to break this thought to his parents just because i have tied him Rakhi. But i also told my parents and i got green signal.

Otherwise we both have affection towards each other, we ll sure suffer if we move apart:-(
what we should do now??

Before you go on a tangent, first find out her feelings. Does she still regard you as a brother? Then you are s**t out of luck. Just swallow your pride and move on. She will appreciate your courage in asking her.

If it is/ was just a ritual, and she has "feelings" for you as a *distant* relative - then, approach her with your love and hope she reciprocates. Note, I said distant relative. If she is just a close family friend, it is even better - but she should be prepared
to look at you the same way you do of her.

That's it. Nothing complicated.
