You are probably talking about the Impala. Its is actually not any smaller though. They did put bigger wheels on it though which makes it look a lot better. Hope I have been helpful.

There never was a "smaller" version of the Caprice. This model has always been based on the biggest Chevrolet made at the time. The first Caprice rolled off the assembly line in 1966 as an upscale Impala and it had a squared off roofline as opposed to the Impala's fastback design. The "classic" moniker was a marketing tool to simply sell cars in the 80's. No "small" Caprice ever existed in the sense that Chevy may have once produced a "Chevelle Caprice". It has always been the biggest Chevy car in production at the time.
