First off, something's not official just because somebody on the Internet says it is. That defies the whole purpose of "official." It's like when somebody says "literally" when they mean "practically," as in "He was right in my face, literally ten feet tall." Nobody on Earth is ten feet tall.

Those who fail to learn from history often believe the end is near. America stood off with the U.S.S.R. for decades under the threat of total nuclear annihalation. They had far more destructive potential than Al Qaeda or North Korea could even dream of. And everybody walked away in one piece. We each knew that launching an offensive meant certain death for us all, so nobody pulled the trigger. Although the media like to portray Osama bin Laden or Kim Jong Il as insane or unreasoning, somebody like that could not rise to, let alone maintain, the power that they have.

World Wars I and II were not called that just because they were important. In each case, the involved nations had alliances with other nations that got them involved in the war. Consider the major players in WWII: USA, Britain, Russia, China, Canada, and France against Germany, Austria, Italy, and Japan. We don't have anything resembling that kind of coalition today. There's the chance that negotiations with N. Korea fail, and it results in war, but it would hardly count as a world war.

If you're really worried about getting blow up in World War III, I would advise you to turn off the TV news. It's only there to keep you in a constant state of fear.

if North Korea had more friends then maybe..... but the US, because of its influence on the world economy still has powerful allies around the world. Aslong as we have europe, china and japan on ourside there isn't a power strong enough to ignite WWIII.

Not official, but stock up anyway. We're in for it in the next decade or two.
