The answer is...someone, who has a really sensitive sense of smell, went to an asian restaurant or happened to be in the vicinity of some asian food and smelled something that, in their head, made them think of something extremely foul. This would've had to have been the worst thing they've ever smelled in order for them to hate Asians for something they have no control over. Now when he or she talks to an Asian person, he or she associates the smell of the Asian person's breath with the foul smell he or she remembers. The people who ask that question can't see that, every once in a while, they'll run into anybody of any race with bad breath. Just stop hating.

The answer to that question is from the Napa that they eat. It is foul smelling. Why does foul smelling breath have anything to do with racism, when it's the Napa [rotten cabbage]. My Korean friend says it is very good & good for you. Why does race have to be an issue? If it stinks, it stinks! That's like when I eat a tuna sandwich with raw onions & jalepeno pepper slices, I grab a stick of gum out of a plenty pack of Winterfresh to freshen my breath, because I don't want to OFFEND anyone I speak to! But I'm just a silly blonde Polish, lily white as- American women that likes to chew gum!

Take a deep breath..relax..I don't think that it was a racist question...I have been all through china for many years and the truth is that they have a different standard of dental hygene than we do..especially in more rural areas...they do in fact often have very bad breath..and they seem to know it ---you will often see them talking with their hand in front of their mouths....I can assure you that I am not saying this in a derogatory or racist manner...I have some wonderful friends who are chinese..but this is just an example of a cultural difference. I am certain that I inadvertendly to things that they think are a little strange as well.

No really their breath stinks. It's the garlic and other seasonings in the food. And the differing cultural norms about food. The same is true for many races: Northern Africans, Indians (from India). Americans (north and south) just eat foods so processed that nothing has a true scent. No offense intended. Your people live longer and healthier lives, so I wouldn't worry about it. It like saying Americans are fat -- we are. it's just the truth and sometimes the truth hurts like hell.

Sydney is alive with Asians. We have Chinese,Vietnamese,Malaysian,Indonesian, Tibetans and some from places we are not sure of. Like our Greek,Italian and East European migrants, they like garlic. It does stink if you eat too much, but is highly valued in Asia for its medicinal properties.
Garlic is the reason why peppermints are served after dinner.
