My daughter was 8 months and 1 day old when we were Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. She looked at my husband and called him MAMA. My husband cried because he called her mama, where I smiled and laughed because she started talking. My Valentine's Day she was putting words together (Uncle Bob was her favorite words) and by her first birthday she was speaking sentences such as I want it, lets go bye bye.

My oldest said DaDa at about 9 mos, and my youngest said full sentences at 13 mos. He would say, "No, no touch that." Or even, "No no doggie." My favorite is, " I love you."

i don't consider "momma" or "dada" being a first word. only nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, and so on.

my daughter was about 8 or 9 months when she referred to me as mamama.. but i don't count that. her first birthday is tomorrow. and i am hoping her first word will come her 14th month, hopefully. i do wonder wat it will be.
