i dont know about south carolina but in the bay area in california i have a 1 bedroom and the rent is 1109.00 (really sucks!)
try going to http://www.rent.com/ and u can see actual apartments and prices

try calling a local realtor in that area, they can help you find out what the average rent costs, or either refer you to a property manager at a rental company in that area!
