For one of our 2nd anniversary, I bought one of those picture frames with a bunch of slots for pictures and I put in the best memories of that year that we had together. He loved it and he's not even the lovey kind of a guy. We've been together for almost 5 years now and he's never taken it down from his wall OR I'd just say invite him over to a candle-lit homemade dinner with all the trimmings and a store bought gift.

i don't know if your boyfriend would like this, but i'll tell you what i'm doing for our 1 year anniversary. i've started making a list of 100 things i love about him. (you may want to start early cause it's not as easy as it seems). (or if you're really ambitious you can do one thing for every day you've been together). then i'm going to print them on nice paper, something like resume paper, and have it bound into a book. you can have that done at kinko's or some place similar. i think several office supply stores offer book binding services. you can choose to have something printed on the cover like a pic of the 2 of you or your names or something. hope this helps.

have a candle-light dinner with no interuptions (no siblings, pets, just the two of you). but dont cook it your self, cook together, discuss the menu beforehand.

that will let him see you in action, make him feel the comfort. trust me, boys always look and appreciate at the soft side of a girl, kinda reminds them of their mother cooking for them when they were a kid.

or cook together, have him help you, bring up a conversation, dont talk about his game collection, talk about you and him, anything, make him relaxed.

dim the lights, turn on the candle, play instrumental music (piano is the best), have a laugh or two while eating. when you finished eating, leave the dishes, move on to the coach, talk and laugh together, and enjoy the night.

hope this works. happy anniversary.. !!

I think u can go for "our love story" book. U fill the details from your side and ask him to fill the remaining. U can even add some pictures in it.

Once done u both would love to go thru it any time and many times in ur lifetime
