PLEASE! I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!
I, by mistake, made a picture into a .exe file and now i cant delete it...
I took a screen shot and pasted it on paint. I, without thinking, named my picture "name".exe because i took a picture of an error that had on top the "name".exe
the file was saved as a .exe, and now i am not able to erase it, rename it, etc. everytime i try to do one of those an error pops up saying that the application is being used by another program.
I tried restarting and trying to erase again, i tried to use some file shredders from geeksquad.com (or something like that, dont memebr), and i also tried to erase it in SAFE MODE!but it still said that it was being used by another program! now i have no idea what to do and i dont want to keep that file there nor i want to reformat my computer just because of that

i know its a really dumb mistake but i wasnt thinking at the time i did it!

*the file is just a picture, and when i click on it DOS pops up. can open w/paint

it isn't really your mistake
it is just because windows is a piece of crap
now how to solve this problem ?
you have two choices
1- use a windows startup disk to get into the DOS
use the CD command to move to the folder you have put your picture in
use DELETE command to delete it

2- Download linux Live CD and boot your computer with it then using your mouse open the folder where the picture in and delete it
http://mirror.cs.umn.edu/ubuntu-releases/kubuntu/6.06/kubuntu-6.06-desktop-i386.iso
get the live CD from the above link

Open up the folder in which the file is in. Go to Tools>Folder Options>View. Uncheck Hide know file extentions. Click on OK. Rename the file to Error.bmp or Error.000. Now try deleting it.

look at first in the Taskmanager if this exe file ist running. If so stop the process and then you should be able to delete it. Otherwise start the computer and press F8 to come to the console and delete it from their before the computer has started up
