Yes it is legal to download music from the internet, however it is illegal to infringe upon a persons intelectual property rights and/or copyrights in the process.

If you pay for what you download, then usually that means some of it will reach the artist(s), meaning 'yes,' if there is a fee, and usually 'no,' if there is not.

Don't let people fool you. "Nothing in this world is free," and that includes a 3 minute MP3.

In all reality it all depends on how ya look at it you could go to Limewire and download all you want w/o paying a cent, or you could bend over and pay .99 per song...your choice.
