I'm of Hispanic Origin, I guess the reason why they get them bothe confused is because of the color of there skin and the way the look. You are right, they are nothing alike. puerto ricans have a different dialect both in Spanish and English. Mexicans tend to have darker tans than puerto ricans. Mexicans have different cultural values and life styles. Many puerto ricans believe in Chritianity unlike many mexicans who are Catholic. Both puerto ricans and mexicans have a lot of pride because I always see them wearing there national colors one way or another. Myself, I'm half Hispanic and half Spaniard...how ironic. I'm still not sure why they get mexicans and puerto ricans mixed up, because you can apply this mixture with other ethnic groups like people from Nicaragua, Ecuador, Guatemala, Chile, Honduras. I think people are just ignorent.

maybe its because we both puerto ricans and Mexicans speak the same language ! But let me tell u something most puertoricans have lighter skin than mexicans and i being a puerto rican with light skin and blue eyes would find it offensive to get mistaken for a mexican ( i have nothing against mexicans )

Have you lost it? I'm half Korean, and people ask me if I'm Mexican, Puerto Rican, Phillipino, etc. Can you look at an oriental person, and tell if they're Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.??? You act like it is a crazy mistake, but it isn't.

because they both have Spanish ancestry, and most people would not know the difference between any two people unless they have differences in skin or eye colour/shape
Just remember there is only one race on this planet, its called the human race and because of its genetic diversity it might last a very long time once it grows up and stops trying to kill itself

I think they do look alike...

Let's put this way:
American, Brit, English...
French, Italian, German, Romanian...
Chinese, Japanese, Korean...
Indian, Palestinian, Israelis, Iraqis, Iranian...
Malaysian, Thais, Indonesian, Filipinos...
Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Tara Reid, Jessica Simpson...
Do they not look alike? can you tell which is which?

Anyways, is that offensive to you in any way?
