I'm a scuba instructor. None of the diving agencies (PADI, NAUI, SSA) recommend it. Neither does DAN (Divers Alert Network. There have been no studies on the effects of the fetus or the mother relating to scuba diving.

In most cases, if it's something you have always done... generally it's safe to continue. But I have ot agree with what everyone else is saying. In this situation, you are changing your oxygen intake, which has a DIRECT effect on your baby. If you really want to go in the water... mabay surface snorkling...?? You breathe normal air, and are only under as long as you can hold your breath. There's no reason not to get in the water and swim!!!!

PS - how would you get a weight-belt on anyhow?? I can't imagine even trying to get scuba gear on while I'm pregnant... let alone carrying or moving any of it!!

This is when good old common sense is useful. No you shouldnt dive when you are pregnant you have a life inside you and if you fall and get hurt so does the baby.
