Ok so I understand breathe from your stomach. But once that air is there, how do you sing? I mean do you force the air back in supporting the tone or sing over the air? I am really confused. Also should I feel just my stomach expand or what?

Do you learn singing anywhere? If so there they will teach you how to use your breath in singing songs. But if you don't learn it like me, then forget about breath management and sing freely whatever way you wish, only keeping in mind that you should be comfortable with your singing. I don't know whether the stomach has any role in singing.

Sounds like you got the breathing in part of it down, but that's only half of it... The other half is how to control the air as it leaves your lungs...

One of the simplest ways to 'feel' the diaphram working is to get a balloon and blow it up. While doing this, pay close attention to what your muscles in your abdomen feel like. Use this feeling of resistence when you blow up the balloon (feeling the need to push the air out of your lungs using muscles in your abdomen) to control and push your air when you sing.

Mastering the control takes a while, and your tone may be a little loud and forced at first (you might not need quite as much force as you used for the balloon). Once you begin to gain control, using these muscles to support both loud and soft tones will help you gain a more 'consistent' sound.

Hope this is some help to you!

When you are first learning how to diaphragm breathe, it helps to rest your hand on your stomach, that way you can feel your stomach expanding and contracting. If it isn't you aren't diaphragm breathing. Once the air is there you then use your diaphragm to push the air out and use it to support the tone.

Vibrato, diaphragmatic breathing.

Put your hand in front of your mouth, "push" your stomach downwards, and try to feel air come out.

Practice that a lot.

When you sing from your diapraghm you can feel your stomach muscles working......A quick tip.......To be assured that you are not singing "through your nose" hold your nostrils closed and see if you sound nasal............
