Okay I know I asked this already but I want a few more answers so--is there such a thing as a false negative on a pregnancy test? I've got alot of the signs, and my period is late, but I took 2 tests and they were both negative. Any answers? Thanks

false negatives happen more than false positives. usually when they're taken too early.

I say wait a few days and take another. or call your doctor and have a blood test done. ovulation doesn't always happen when you think it should so your cycle might be a few days off and there isn't enough of the pregnancy hormone to detect.

oh, and a lot of the early pregnancy signs are the same as or really close to pms symptoms (tender breasts, bloating, etc). but, I've heard constipation is common in early pregnancy while diarrhea can be part of your pms symptoms.

good luck! :D

False tests do happen. At the same time, if you're really stressing over this or something else in your life or are preoccupied with the idea of being pregnant, you can have the signs and symptoms. Also known as pseudocyesis. Defined as an imaginary pregnancy in women usually resulting from a strong desire or need for motherhood. In the absence of conception, the menstrual periods nevertheless cease, the abdomen becomes enlarged and the breasts swell and even secrete milk, mimicking genuine pregnancy. The uterus and cervix may show signs of pregnancy, urine tests may be falsely positive, and the woman may report sensations of fetal movements. A woman may believe in her pregnancy to the point of delusion and show acute depression when no baby is born. It has been suggested that depression can sometimes alter the activity of the pituitary gland so as to cause hormone level changes that mimic the hormone changes of real pregnancy.

A urine pregnancy test relies on the presence of the hormone hCG in the urine. False negative urine pregnancy test is very common due to various reasons such as a very early pregnancy, a failed or failing pregnancy, early ectopic pregnancy or ever very diluted urine. So if you have strong reasons to believe that you are pregnant, go do a blood hCG level which is much more accurate and quantitative (instead of just telling you positive or negative)

How many days without your period? When did you think was the day the deed was performed? Pregnancy test work 2 to three weeks of pregnancy. It is very important you test the first urine in the morning. It contains the biggest amount of HCG hormones.
To be 100% sure it would be better if you take a blood test. Are you a teenager? Do you have means to take one? If not go to Planned Parenthood they can help you..

My sister-in-law took two tests at her gynecologist's office and both were negative. She was still late and returned. She had another test and that one turned out positive. There could be multiple reasons why you are late, but just to be on the safe side, go see your doctor.

yes there is!!
Pregnancy tests done yourself are not always right.
you have to make sure you are doing it exactly right or you can get a false answer.
The best time to take a pregnancy test is in the morning with your first pee of the day, i know this, i've done it.
But the best one with 100% accuracy is go to the doctors, it is confidential and absoulutley positive.

Yes, they can happen.... best thing to do.. See your dr and ask for a blood test. If they do a urine test, they are just repeating the same one you did at home that you think came out wrong...
