Common belief. I happen to be good at both algebra and geometry. (Though I happen to be working on my doctorate in math.) I think that it may have more to do with your teacher or the projects that you do in your classes in high school. Also if you are a visual learner, you may do better at geometry, but that does not mean that you will have trouble understanding algebra. (There are ways to teach/understand algebra visually.)

Not necessarily -- Algebraic Geometry is widely regarded as the hardest area of mathematics to learn, but if you get good at it, then you will be unbelievably good at both Algebra and Geometry. To see how hard Algebraic Geometry is, go check out Robin Hartshorne's book "Algebraic Geometry". Scheme cohomology is frickin' nuts.

according to some research i read, about 90% of mathematicians are geometric thinkers and the other 10% are algebraic thinkers
i have always struggled with geometry - all i see are lines - but got to honours degree level because i never had a problem thinking symbolically

I sort of did an same element. I went shrink decrease back to varsity after 10 years and had, of route, forgotten each and each and every and each and each and every of the mathematics. So, I fairly had to take Alg I and II decrease decrease back. yet I did it in a "lab" sort the position I taught myself from the textual content textile and in ordinary words went in for checks. It grew to change into into fairly sensible. you actually ought to need to stay targeted and self-discipline your self. also, its common to change into reliant on an answer key so that you'll want to challenge your self with quizzes that are corrected by employing potential of somebody else. strong achievement!
