Fact is, porn in illegal in most Asian countries, like Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia etc etc. So it is not just Singapore. Maybe you should be asking why in all the Asian countries.
Fact is, this had kept the people on a better mental attitude and focus their time better. I had come across westerners who questioned why porn is so liberal in thei country instead. So, it is a good thing after all.

I don't know if it's illegal to do so in a private place. But I am told that they do block porn sites. Distributing porn in Singapore is probably illegal. But - like anywhere else, things go on that the police cannot stop. My advice: if you are a visitor to Singapore download what you want. Just don't distribute it. Once you're caught, they make a big deal about it.

Believe it or not, porn is illegal in Thailand too. It's just that Singapore is tiny and able to enforce laws. Thailand doesn't even try. But as to why it's illegal, the powers that B in Singapore believe porn to be a corrupting influence which distracts people (especially the young) from life's more important pursuits i.e. education. You may not have noticed, but Singapore recently opened up a lot as far as those naughty little bars with lots of girls in them. A lot of those 'devout muslim' Malay guys who used to get their jollies in Thailand are now tooling off to Singapore. Whodathunkit?

Yes.. It is illegal in Singapore... But if U can get approved from the authorise department for permit... U can get it... for those above 21 year and above
Only licence shop are allow to sell porn products in Singapore... Don't U know that there are some porn store in Orchard Road and Chinatown...
