Maybe they just like the toil of hard work.
Maybe they're afraid of success or moving on!
Fear may be holding them back.
Maybe they don't know anything other than being treated like less than! Which is sad!

Well, some people didn't have the luxury of an education or the opportunities that you did. People in third world countries are grateful to have a job that will bring an income, albeit a low one.

Take India for example, while it is slowly changing, they have a caste system, where some castes are not allowed to take high level jobs no matter what their level of education or skill set. The Untouchables, for example are only allowed to take on the most menial of jobs, ie, cleaning out septic tanks.

Put it this way though - someone has to clean out toilets, empty bins, sort out recycled goods, clean up car carsh sites and so on in order for us to function as a society

Because the overwhelming majority of the worlds population has next to nothing and they will do what they have to do in order to survive and feed themselves and their families.
They got into the situation because crafty rich guys have been finding ways to exploit disadvanted people for a very long time and in modern times it takes on a whole new sophistication of corporate globalization with free trade and imperialist transnational corporations, the international monetary fund & the world bank, which has lent money to corrupt governements and demands payback from the sweat of the people who never saw the money in the first place. And a lot of people all over the world, in a lot of different ways ARE doing something about it, though not enough. The corporate media doesnt tend to report it, it doesnt mean its not happening. theres a whole world out there of things happening that we never see on television. What are you doing about it? Are we too comfortable and drugged on TV and shopping malls to even care? I guess not, or you wouldnt have asked the question!

There are many reasons why people practically take any job they can get their hands on, even if that means not having benefits, respect from their employers, or a good salary, to name a few. Reasons may include lack of education, lack of skills, desperate need of money, lack of residency in the United States, etc. Feel blessed you have a choice to turn down jobs that others less fortunate wish they could have to feed a family of 8! :)

Sometimes people can't. They get manipulated into these situations because they have no other alternative. If someone has a bad job it isn't always their fault. For example, if a single mother needs to support her child and herself, she may be forced into taking a low-paying job where she is abused. She can't leave because she would not have a way to provide for her family so she must deal with her situation.

Many people, in poor countries, don't know about the advantages we have. They are trying to put food on the table, clothes on their body, and a roof over their head.

What do you want them to do about it? Maybe you can go to other countries and become a mentor!

Believe it or not many people could care less about your priorities or what you consider worthy of your efforts. They are content with what they have. Greed and ego don't apply to everyone, maybe just the people you know.

Most of them have no choice, and all of them are more desperate than you will ever be.
