Depends. Why not just tell the family member that you have an allergy to pets. After all, it's a medical condition, you aren't rejecting them or telling them they are idiots for having so many animals. Then you can suggest to them that you'd rather meet at your house, or a coffee shop, or...anyplace else.
If you live with them it's a different story. I don't think you're going to be able to tell someone who has collected 15 dogs and cats to get rid of them. You'll just have to move out.

tell your family that your going to the dr to find out why you are feeling the way you do .then say you went to the doctor and he said that you have severe allergies and you told him about your every day surroundings and your living enviroment ,let your family members know that your health problems are serious and that you found out that pet dander and hair from animals are the main cause of the problems your having .say that they are'nt going to get better but only worsen if you ignore the cause of your allergies its gonna lead to other serious health issues say hey IM SICK CAN YOU HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHAT I NEED TO DO SO I CAN FEEL BETTER.tell them you have to keep away from animals with hair and dander tell them how you feel ,get the doctor to write up a diagnosis for you..... hope you get better soon
