Obviously laws vary from state to state, however, in most states and municipalities it is quite legal, thanks to the Second Amendment (and the NRA for maintaining that right!). In some locations you can't carry a pistol holstered because it is considered "concealed" but you can almost always carry one in your hand just so you don't point it at anyone where it could be considered "brandishing a weapon"!

As long as you aren't a convicted felon whose civil rights haven't been restored, and subject to some additional state and local regulations beyond those you mentioned, you can carry a firearm in a holster that is visible. Don't let your shirt cover it because that makes it a concealed weapon in most jurisdictions. Actually, don't do it at all (like you said) because you will scare people and more likely than not get shot by a nervous law enforcement official. In Georgia we have what is called a carrying permit (different from a concealed weapon permit), the purpose of which is somewhat ambiguous (because you don't actually need any additional permit to carry the gun), but it helps to have one if you do plan on carrying a weapon in public.

Yes...unless their is an ordinance stateing otherwise, you may strap a pistol to your side and walk down the street with it.

But, if you wear a jacket, or your shirt is untucked, and it is over the gun, then you are concealing it from veiw, and could be arrested unless you have a concealed carry permit.

If you decide to do it, just make sure everyone can see it!

Depends on the gun carry laws applicable in your jurisdiction. Some states permit concealed weapons but prohibit open carry, or vice versa, or both, or neither.

If your state permits open carry - and there are several that do - then as long as you have the requisite gun permit and open carry permit, then you can strap your gun to your hip and wander wherever you please.

Depends on the state law. Where I live yes, but you need a permit, and the gun must be registered and legal.

I don't see why not because everyone else is and its permitted under the constitution.I see no difference whether you hide it or show it.In fact at least when you wear it showing that you are armed you are being honest...maybe then you ought to get a horse!

Depending on the state it may be concealed or otherwise. Check the state statutes for further information.
