I would say yes, sure , why not ?
I know that Lawyer is stupid to even think about going after FIFA for this . But who cares, lets replay and kick their a** again to shut them up once and for all . It doesn't matter if they replay the last 10 minutes of the game or the whole game , cause Italy will win fair and square one more time . You Franchies need to remember how you score that first goal in the Final , it was a result from a dive , not a PK .

I'm not saying you are wrong, but I have different opion on the game .
Italy dominated the 1st half , they also have chances to score through out the whole game : 1 header hit cross bar, 1 goal disallowed for being offside . I agree that France played better in the second half , but we all have overlooked the fact that Italy was drag-death tired from the full 120 minutes running up-n-down against Germany . Granted there was a miss PK call in 2nd half , I think it was a make up un-call from the Ref , which is fair , so lets just imagine how a game would be different if there wasn't a goal in the 6th minute from that stupid PK . You should know how much of an early goal mean to your team . Also , to go down 1-0 that early would force any team to try harder , and sometime force them to get away from their original game plan .
Yes , Luck plays a big part in winning a championship. It happened before in many sports , and to many teams, like France in 98 and Euro 2000

Some additional thoughts :
If , and only (big) IF Italy have has a little "LUCK" . They would have won the WC 90 which they were a Host and playing great Soccer , also they would have won 1994 in PK over Brazil , and 98 in quarter-final over France .
So please don't even try to over shadow the Italian team's achievement . They deserved to be Champion after all, and they have showed a great team's spirit by having so many players to score goals, it was a total team's effort .
That's something you French people need to look at and think about . You have had your time and luck while Italy have suffered. Now your time and luck has ran out , shut up and step up to show great sportmanship, to show the World that you are a great loser, not a whining crying loser that you've been showing . It's really embarrassed and ashamed.

I don't want the final to be replayed. I think it would be unfair to Italy and their win. People may say it was luck that got them there but who cares cause they won. Plus could you even imagine what would happen if they did replay the game and France won? That's way too much drama for FIFA to put up with.
I'm also not French and I watched their last game with Italy not really caring who would win. So I agree that the first PK given was a mistake because that was clearly a dive. However there was another PK missed by the ref in the second half that should have been awarded to France. I think France was playing slightly better than Italy, but that doesn't matter cause Italy won.
To all the Italian fans that constantly bash the French for being sore losers. I think you should maybe take your own advice and be gracious winners. Sore losers and sore winners are all losers in my book.

I'm not French, but even though the first penalty was a dive (and therefore not justified), there should have been a penalty call, for sure, in the second half, when Malouda was brought down. This is coming from an American sportscaster's mouth, not mine. Now a replay is ludicrous and the French should just go home and reflect on their mistakes. Through defeat, they will surely become better. As for the Italians winning in a rematch is overly optimistic, since they won with penalty shootouts (always luck-oriented) and had virtually no scoring opportunities for much of the second half and overtime. A rematch would probably be up for grabs...
What is really mesmerizing is how the Italians won't recogonize that they were somewhat lucky to win (since they could only win through penalty shootouts, which are inherently lucky) and that the French won't admit that they lost due to clever Italian tactics and an excellent Italian defense.

I didn't realize that someone else had posted up a question - so here's my chance to say something....just suppose the courts do decide that they could do a rematch - Italy would object strongly imo and I can't see the French court wanting to risk a major riot in Europe!!
On the other hand Fifa should be ordered to investigate the matter more thoroughly on the referee decision decision to see if they can prove that the official did see the video replay and if they can prove that the referee did see the video clip then disciplinary action should be taken on the official but keep the players out of it and allow Zidane to keep the Best Player Award. That would be the sensible route and allow Italy to remain the cup holder!! I think both teams don't realistically want a replay!!!

If there is a replay, I suppose you have to reverse some of the award that has been decided after the Finals. For example Zidane's Golden Ball Award? Shouldn't that be done too.
Personally, I would not like to see a replay of the Finals. Despite all the on-going soreness, disputes, unhappiness that came into light after the Finals. If there is a replay (I pray not), this could set a precedent and the flood gates and calls for replays would be endless. What then would the "World Most Beautiful Game" become? Ugly, Unsporting and Pretentious ... making grown man look like kidergarten boys? .. I truely hope that would not happen.

no. definitely not, game over, even though irregularities have occured. FIFA would never accept it, anyways, and both teams would refuse as well. Of course, the first penalty was doubtful, not the second; Zidane staying on may have helped France win in overtime or PKO, who knows?

personally i would love to see a replay but realistically there's no way that it's gonna happen. ZZ is now retired and at least one coach had resigned and there's the logistics problem...
now if the replay is for ZZ's testimonial match, then that's another story... imagine metarazzi doing the honours this time to hand over the proceeds to ZZ...

NO!! And if Zidane/the French really love the game, they wouldn't go along with this most unsporting suggestion.
The lawyer's taking it too far - but then again, what do lawyers know about football anyway?
