This sounds cliche, but be yourself. Don't try too hard to impress the "cool" clique (they usually aren't as cool as you think). Here's a tip: They're only "cool" because everyone is led to believe they are. ;-)

Make friends with everyone (the "nerds", the "brainers", the "jocks", and yes, even the "cool" kids. And NEVER, EVER take a side. Especially on the side of the wrong.

Just from my personal experience. I was one of those kids that was friends with everyone. When there was a dispute between different friends from different groups, I also ended up being the mediate. Mind you there were kids that didn't like me much, and vice-versa, but no matter what you do you'll always get that. But it's satisfying to know you have more friends than enemies. This helped all through highschool as well.

One thing important to remember, when you feel like the world is against you. It isn't. And things get better.

Grade 8 was fun for me.

Good luck.

Well I'm actually starting my first year of college, but I remember my 8th grade year very well. It went by really fast. So if there is any advice I could give you it;s to just enjoy the time, it's gonna fly by rather you think so right now or not. Right now you're building a very important thing the good 'ol "reputation" and what is looked on as "cool" right now..most likely won't be seen the same in years to come. Your reputation sticks with you, so make it a good one:)

Well, that really depends on what you mean. Are you asking for how to get by academically or socially, because those answers are very different.

In my experience, junior high kids are really cruel, and to survive that I didn't worry about them. I just thought about better days and enjoyed the few friends I had.

Hey! u won't die if u r starting the 8th grade!

It'll be ok, think about it this way: you are gonna be the oldest of the school, so, u'll be the coolest and u'll be very exited about ur graduation party and going to high school, so relax and enjoy it

and don't forget to work hard to keep ur grades up!!!

i live in a small town, you don't really need to "survive" everyone atleast pretends to like eachother. so i can't really give you any advice. except don't be shy, make a lot of friends and the other usual stuff. but it isn't really diffrent from other grades.

Pray a lot!! Remember that your peers are feeling the same things you are. Be strong and confident in yourself and you'll survive.
