Isn't it interesting how we bicker on this board defending 2 broken parties? (Me - guilty as well) Both parties are corrupt as hell, don't serve their constituents, engage in partisan attacks and can't get anything meaningful done. Do we need a strong 3rd party to come along? Some crazy billionaire to run again as an independent? Should we have many parties like other nations do? Something has got to change. Any ideas???

Easy answers to complex problems

1) We are ingrained to think that our country is just a two party system. The fact is historically there have been times when there were three parties in power at the same time.

2) It is a sad fact, but most of the intelligent people have left the building. I say this because even when it logically makes sense to do something you can't get even 10 people to agree to do it much less a million.

For example: Gas prices are the highest they have ever been in this country and yet people are driving larger and larger vehicles faster and faster. A person with an IQ of 75 can see that this is seriously stupid behavior.

if everyone would cut their gas consumption by a minimum of 1/7 of their tank each week that would mean on average each person would not be consuming or purchasing an entire tankful of gas every seven weeks. 170 million drivers NOT buying a tankful of gas every seven weeks would definitely put a hurt on the Gas Companies.

Or ... pick a company, I chose Exxon , just because it came up on my spinning wheel. If EVERY DRIVER in the USA did not buy ANY PRODUCT from EXXON what do you suppose would happen?

Next if all of the voting americans banded together for once in the next election and just for this election did not vote for ANY single person who is currently in office NOT ONE incumbant elected official was voted back in (regardless of how good any of the people were) just to send a message. There could be a mandate spelled out for the polititions that said something to the effect:

Notice how we the people have cleaned house. We are sick of the current way things are done. We are sick of the politics as usual. We are sick of gridlock and infighting and a two party system. The same rules all across the board apply to Republican, Democrat and Independents. We DO NOT want powerful senators we want SUBMISSIVE SERVANTS. If you want to stay in office then you better start towing the line. You have the next two years to accomplish most of this list.

1) We want to get rid of the 60,000 page tax document that no one person can understand and we either want a flat tax or better yet just a tax on consumption. That means the ONLY time we pay taxes is when we buy something.
No tax on income, or savings, or capital gains, or LAND. Just when we purchase something. The percentage should never exceed 17 percent and food and medicine are excluded. This means goodbye to the IRS and all of the scum sucking leeeches/ lawyers who make their living beating the system. It is simple you BUY a $60,000.00 car then you pay approx $10,000 in taxes. You don't buy anything other than food? then you don't pay any taxes. You buy a $1,000.00 Regrigerator? then you pay $170 dollars in taxes. No laywers, no cheaters, everybody pays when they buy.

2) A restructuring of certain Natural Resources is in order. Selling Oil and Gas is NOT the same as selling Snow Cones or Bad Software. I can choose NOT to buy Snow Cones or Bad Software for the rest of my life, and suffer no ill consequences for it. Oil and Gas on the other had are life necessities and as such should not be subject to profit. All companies engaged in the selling Gas and Oil are to be transferred to NON PROFIT organizations. (*** threre is no excuse for the oil companies to make trillions of dollars in profit during the last decade when we have people on fixed incomes freezing in winter or dying of heat exposure in the summer ***) We are sick of corporate greed.

3) It shall hence forth be illegal for any corporation to donate any money to any political campain funds. People, the general public are allowed to donate up to $20,000.00

4) Drug companies are also to be made NON-PROFIT for the same reasons that the Oil companies.

5) No elected official may partake in any travel or recieve any gifts of any kind while in office. The donations made by the people go into a general fund and are distributed equally during the campain season.

6) Elected officials must work at least 48 weeks per year just like all of the rest of the American public. Regardless if you are in Washington or on the road talking to your people.

No more closed sessions and NO MORE pay raises.

6a) Each bill is allowed to have just three amendments and each amendment must support the original essense of the bill. Any bill that has more than three amendments must be trashed and rewritten. We are sick of pork barrel spend what ever you want legislation.

7) Any and I mean ANY elected official that says anything similar to "I know my constituents wanted me to vote one way but I had to vote my conscience." should immediately be thrown in prison for treason. We are not electing dictators, we are electing SERVANTS who are supposed to represent our will. YOUR job is NOT TO VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE but to vote according to what we want you to do.

8) By the year 2020, there should be in place a national voting ability for all Americans so that each American can vote on the legislative issues. The only reason Government by representation was established is because it was not feasible to have the population vote each month on matters of state. That possibility exists today. We don't need your representation any more. We need sensible legislation that we the people can vote on from the comfort of our homes.

9) We need to legalize all drugs. Anyone with half a brain can see that we are repeating prohibition that failed miserably long ago. If you take the criminal element away from the drugs meaning (try to grasp this those of you who are doomsday thinkers) if you make it impossible for the drug cartels to make any kind of profit. If you make it so that the drug cartels lose money bringing drugs here in this country you immediately stop the 'pushing' of drugs on the young people. Take the 'taboo' away and many people that would otherwise do it for the thrill will loose interest. Then we can save the hundreds of millions of dollars wasted trying to stop this war that will never end. When you have bad folks making billions of dollars on black market products, what INSENTIVE do they have to stop?
Contrary to popular belief there would not be a mass migration of the entire population do start using drugs.

10) The Government is no longer allowed to tell any person what they can or cannot put into their bodies. The Government may only make recommendations. We as a public should be allowed to medicate ourselves like those in other countries without the need for a doctors prescription

11) Those who are currently incarcerated for drugs are to be released. It is not the drugs that have ruined families, but the stigma attached to them. Incarcerating someone for ingesting a substance is criminal.

The huge amount of money freed up could go to treatment plans and drug education with plenty of money left over for regular education programs.

I have more but that's just for starters.

The 3rd party is called "Independants" but most who would run would be smeared so bad that they wouldn't win, plus the fact that there are as many political party fanatics as there are religious fanatics & an Independant just can't carry enough votes...Politicians are professional liars, greedy with self interests and agendas...Government is any countries biggest business & should be run by successful business execs with an understanding that the public is governments meal ticket...Until we all start writing in "None of the Above", until WE do something about our government as a nation, it won't change...Keep in mind too, the Pres. & VP are temporary positions, figureheads, told by other politicians in office (for life so it seems) what can & will be done or led to believe lies are true & cause a desired decission...

I agree to a point, getting another billionaire involved in politics is no better then what we have had and still have going on.
What we need is someone who REALLY knows what's going on in this country as well as the whole world but hasn't started kissing any one's a*s yet and hopefully won't ever start either.
It seems that the richer the fool that is voted into office the more trouble he has gotten everyone into.
Think about it for awhile to see just what I'm talking about.
None of those rich as*-holes has ever earned an honest days wage nor put in an honest days effort to do anything for anyone other then the other rich fools that aided in getting those rich as*-holes into office.
Yes somethings got to change for not only this country but to show the world that we are not the criminals they believe us all to be because of the crap that has been put into the most important office of this country.
It would really be great to be able to wake up each and every morning knowing that the person whether it be a woman or another failure as a male in office and to realize that the world is at peace for once in it's whole life time.
Now to find that special person who hasn't been corrupted and isn't wealthy in any form of the word other then being a very honest person who also wants to "work" for his/her living by working for "We the people" instead of all the As*'s that put him in office.
You've go my vote here to find someone and to get one more party going and to pray that it won't be another mess.

I think the problem isn't necessarily the 2 parties. It's how they get elected and how short sited they are. Lobbying pays off the millions of election campaign debt and they get "great consideration" regarding our public policy (laws) Time to ban lobbying re: our law makers. Ideas only - no money - campaigns should be sponsored by our Universities/put on T.V. as a community service announcement and our smartest professors should interview and screen the candidates before they can become eligible. Many other changes needed. Constitution needs some adjustment to catch up with the current problems we face.

another billionaire is a bad idea i'm thinking more along the line of a good ol grassroots farmer (you know the one that has been screwed by the government without even the offer of a cig afterwards) put somone that actually doesn't want the job in there and you know they have high moral fiber and character. The american farmer would be perfect if he does it because the people ask him to and not because he wants to he will be doing it for the right reasons the people and just by doing it against his will he's showed how much the people actually mean to him..........
And you sure as hell don't want me runnin cause I got no problems using nukes and I'll make damn sure I have easy access............#$^@ you Iran and whoever else wants to start stupid crap..........

I always say, better the Devil you know than the Devil you don't. Some countries have hundreds of partys. I dont think that would work any better.

First step is register or change your voting status to 'unaffiliated'. Second is never vote for an incumbent.

we don't need a "crazy millionaire"... we need a stable "grass roots" campaign that has some common sense for once, with at least one really good candidate and some wealthy backers...
