you are talking about the greek oedipus, yes...not some crazy tv show i know nothing about? oedipus exiled. well, he imposed his own punishment didnt he? his hubris was towering till the end when he would not give the gods their due as he decided his own end. besides, he did not know what he was doing when he did all that with mom, but he was acting in bad form in the first place when he killed his father. hmmm....
now i cannot remember who exiled him? he exiled himself didnt he? and blinded himself and then his daughters had to care for him...antigone and ismene.... the gods should decide his fate, not oedipus himself. i belive that was his fatal flaw, yes?
now i have to think on all of this once again.

Firstly, the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children; Oedipus suffered because his father, Laius, kidnapped and raped the young boy Chrysippus and was then cursed by Chrysippus' father, Pelops.
This curse has devolved upon Oedipus. Secondly, it was impossible for Oedipus to avoid the curse because it was his fate. Thirdly, he paid the worst forfeit of all when the seer Teiresias revealed to him that he was the source of the pollution; after this revealing Oedipus found out that he was Laius' son and that he had married his own mother...
I believe that these 3 reasons tell it all; Oedipus shouldn't be exiled because he suffered the worst a man can...
