It is different for ALL women hon.

I exclusively breastfed both my kids. With my son....my period came back at 4 months.
This time around with my Daughter, it came back 2 months after she was born.

However some women don't get their period back until their child has completely weaned.

So you are VERY normal. :o)

Edit: (OMG, I realized I just answered this question under my Husbands yahoo sign-in......I bet that looks bizarre seeing a guy answer a question like that !!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!) But it's still a good answer! Just from 'dahublaz' wife!

I'm currently breastfeeding and got a period when my son was just over 4 months old. He's about to turn 5 months so I don't know if this is going to be a regular thing or if it just happened that one time or what.
And, in case you're wondering, you CAN get pregnant even if you're nursing. My former mother-in-law told me that her physician told her she couldn't get pregnant as long as she was breastfeeding, but then she did become pregnant. But this was 35 yrs ago.
When I had my baby my doctor made sure I knew I could still get pregnant even if I was nursing.

Most women do get their period back at some point while breastfeeding unless they suddenly wean very young. If you *exclusively* nurse, you are likely to have at least 6 months with no periods (and it also works as a form of birth control, too--it is *much* more effective than the Pill would be, in fact!!).

Yes, I'm currently breastfeeding and have been having my period for the past 4 months. Sometimes you can be irregular, but you probably will start again while your breastfeeding.

I've been nursing for 11 months and still no period. Everyone is different, but for the most part you get your cycle back when the baby stops nursing during the night. Congrats on breastfeeding!

I was told by my physician that I wont get my period while I'm breastfeeding, and so far he's been right. My son's 6 months and I've only breastfed him with no sign of a period yet.

Some woman just don't get it. I'm still breastfeeding and my son is 8 months old. I still haven't had my period yet. With my first son i was still breast feeding and i Finlay got it when he was 13 months old, shortly after i stopped breastfeeding. So i think i got it because he was feeding less at that point. Its important that you still use contraceptives though because you can still get pregnant even though you don't get your periods.

You will still get a period sooner or later, but your hormones may be utterly confused at the moment, give it time, Let nature even itself back out and if after 2 more months, See a physician, and ask them what's going on.

Ignore silly people saying that you may be pregnant again, because that's not what you were asking! I breastfed my first child and my period arrived after 6 months. It depends on you as an individual.

I requested my well being care service about it because I had my annual a pair weeks in the past, and he suggested that's common for a lady's cycle to abnormal proper after having a toddler rather in the experience that they are nursing. do not worry! :)
