The sparkle is one of the reasons. Another reason is how a diamond is formed from all that pressure and so strong as a result. I don't have a problem with CZs because they are beautiful and I think the diamond market is controlled by the DeBeers family and diamonds are artificially expensive.

Hmmm, that's a good question. I bought myself a big ol' pair of diamond earrings and I do like them to be cleaned all the time so they sparkle more but I think it's more that they just cost a lot so people see a big diamond in your ear, on your hand, etc and it's a status thing.

Actually, I'm not a big diamond fan. My skin color is very pale with a pink undertone. They don't look good on me. I prefer the blue topaz. They look beautiful on me, I have blue eyes, and because they are cheaper, but still a gemstone, my husband buys me rocks instead of chips!

Yes, and also because they have a pure unique look, and of course, they're a status symbol and we're taught to adore them and awe at them and that they mean wealth. something like that is hard to get out of you're head...oh, and they go with any outfit.
