Who cares if their parents are getting married...There is no reason why they can't hook up. They are almost adults. Tell her to hang in there. When they are legal age, they can do whatever they want.

If the parents are getting married, it would seem that the children will now be living together so "not seeing" each other is not feasible.
It certainly is a strange situation but obviously the attraction between the two families spans two generations.
They are close to being the age when they will be heading off to college abyway. If they are still in love with each other after living in the same household for two years, then that will prove it isn't a passing phase.
All those secrets are not a sign that the relationships between parents and children are very good. Lots of problems here. Oh dear!

Someone I know had this happen to them...the guy and girl ended up getting married tho, it lasted one year...they are divorced now but are still very close. They just couldn't do the married thing.
My opinion here is the parents have been dating secretly...so who should stop seeing whom? The kids should be able to continue seeing each other, after all they aren't blood related if this marriage goes through.
I wish them all luck

wow that would suck big time..... think about it.. they will be living together.. they see each other all the time.... they can still sneak around behind the parents backs.. and when they are old enough they can move out together and do what they want..
It is OK because they are not blood related.. they will be step brother and sister. but that's cool because no one has to know about it. and the parents might even brake up in the years to come ... i do not think there is a law for them to get married either because there is no blood.

MOVE ON! They should be secretly thinking about going to college. That's a question straight out of a V.C Andrews novel. Ask the Author.

Strange situation.
I do not see that parents would have "priority".
Your friend is very young, she could just say that the relationship is "just friendship", until the parents settle in their new life and everybody gets used to the new situation. Then see.

Strictly speaking their relationship will become illegal once their parent marry. The really stupid thing you will find out is that its perfectly legal to MARRY and have CHILDREN with a BLOOD cousin, but a sister/brother by marriage only is illegal. Dumb.

explaining the situation to the parents won't help. they have to get over it and move on, they shouldn't have kept it a secret this long, and this wouldn't have happened, that's why you always have to be open to talk to your parents about anything, if they would have been dating openly, the parents would have never gotten together.
