My laptop notices neighbor's router signal....do all I need is an active wireless IP address?Borrowed or otherwise?Can neighbor tell I'm on it?And/or keep me from using it?Or are there lil secrets someone's dying to tell me?Much appreciated!

If he has an encryption key, you will not be able to get on his router. He can tell who is on from the base station (at least I can). Ask him if it's OK. He may not care.

If you get an active connection then you'll be able to get onto the internet.

However, if it's a secured network then you won't be able to do anything. Even though your computer may say you are connected. If they are running any type of domain setup you may have issues also.

Yes you can go on if the signal is strong enough and there isn't a password.

Yes, you can use your neighbors. It's not legal though. It will also suck when they go on vacation, and you have to wait to use internet again. :) Get your own , its worth it! Good luck.
