Thanks for anyone who answers. My question, Is there a program or a code to stop people from stealing pictures from sites? I have Myspace.com and I don't want anyone to copy my pictures. I've been to some sites and tried to copy a picture and a message appears "You're not allowed to copy this picture." I want something of that nature. Any ideas? Thanks

There is a code (HTML) you can put on your site to disable to right click function, so they can't steal your pics. Or, you could use Photoshop and put a transparent banner over the picture saying that it is yours.

Most of those sites use code that is fairly difficult to implement, and someone who is determined to steal the pictures can get around the code most times anyway. For example, the JavaScript code will only work if you have JavaScript enabled in your browser. All you have to do is disable JavaScript in your browser and you can right click and copy the picture.

Or, you can display the picture on your screen, hit the Print Screen key, then load the screen capture into your favorite graphics editing program, and crop the screen capture so only the picture you want remains. The point is, there is *no* code that can keep your pictures from being stolen.

What you *can* do that is much harder to get around is use a graphics editing program that allows you to add a "watermark" to your picture. If you took the picture, you own the copyright to it, so the watermark could use a copyright symbol and your name and the year the picture was taken.

There is the basic Java script that will disable the right click option

Lists some options and coding for that.

The other thing you can do is create a watermark over the image. A watermark is just a semi-transparent image or text that identifies the image as your own. Most image editing software will allow you make an option like this.

They are protected by copyright. I'm not sure you can protect pictures by copyright on MySpace. Besides, what kind of pics do you have that people want to copy?

This should be what you're looking for.

Keep in mind, this and other tools are easy to get around. It will stop some people though.

Hope this helps,
